Financing a car people collect isn't like financing a commuter. The value depends on originality, history and condition, and a lender has to understand that before it can write a sensible loan.
How collector loans differ from standard auto loans
A standard auto loan relies on a pricing guide. That doesn't work for a car whose value depends on matching numbers and documented history. A lender will want to know what this specific car is worth, so expect questions about its records and recent comparable sales.
What lenders look at
- The car. Condition, originality, mileage, documentation and title status.
- You. Credit, income and how much you're putting down.
- Value. Often based on the lower of the purchase price or an appraisal.
Rizz Lending's terms
Our published terms apply to every car we finance:
- Credit: typically a 700+ FICO.
- Down payment: at least 20%, and up to 40% depending on the car, the borrower and the loan amount.
- Amount financed: $80,000 minimum, up to $1M+.
- Use: personal use only. No rentals, Turo, ride-share or livery.
Rizz Lending loans spread monthly payments over 120, 180 or 240 months. They are not 20-year loans: each loan matures at 84 months, and at that point the remaining balance (a balloon payment) is due. The borrower can pay it off, apply to refinance it or sell the car. There is no prepayment penalty.
Paperwork that helps
Service and restoration records, ownership history, and any marque or registry documentation. The better documented the car, the easier it is to underwrite.
Tips
- Get an independent inspection and, for high-value cars, an appraisal.
- Arrange agreed-value insurance before closing.
- Plan how you'll handle the 84-month maturity before you sign.
