High-End Vehicle Financing: Expert Guide

A lender's straight answers on financing a high-end car: loan vs. lease vs. balloon, what you need to qualify, and how Rizz Lending structures it.

Steve Brownlee · February 2, 2026

I've spent a lot of time on the lending side of six- and seven-figure cars. The buyers who get the best outcome aren't always the ones with the biggest income. They're the ones who know how the loan is built before they fall in love with a car.

This is the short version of what I tell them.

What makes high-end financing different

A regular auto loan is built for a $40,000 car that loses value on a predictable curve. A $300,000 Ferrari doesn't follow that curve. Some models hold value well. Others drop hard in year one. Lenders who don't know the difference either say no or offer a short, expensive term.

A specialist lender underwrites the car and the borrower together. At Rizz Lending, based in Riverton, Utah, that's all we do: exotic, luxury and hypercar loans, private party or dealer, plus lease buyouts and cash-out refinances.

Loan, lease or balloon?

Lease. Lower payment, but you don't own the car, there are mileage limits, and the car goes back unless you buy it out.

Traditional loan. Usually 60 to 84 months at a bank. You build equity faster, but the payment on an expensive car gets big quickly.

Long amortization with a balloon. This is how we lend. Rizz Lending loans spread monthly payments over 120, 180 or 240 months. They are not 20-year loans: each loan matures at 84 months, and at that point the remaining balance (a balloon payment) is due. The borrower can pay it off, apply to refinance it or sell the car. There is no prepayment penalty.

For most of our buyers that last option lands in the middle: a monthly payment closer to a lease, with ownership from day one.

What you need to qualify

  • A credit score that's typically 700+ FICO.
  • At least 20% down. It can be more depending on the car, the borrower and the loan amount.
  • Luxury SUVs such as the Cullinan, Urus, G-Class, Bentayga and Range Rover typically need at least 30% down because they depreciate faster.
  • Proof of income and steady employment. Self-employed buyers are welcome with documentation.
  • A minimum of $80,000 financed.

The full list is on our eligibility page.

How to compare offers

Don't stop at the monthly payment. Ask each lender four questions:

  1. When does the loan mature, and how big is the balloon at that point?
  2. Is there a prepayment penalty? (Ours: none.)
  3. Are there use restrictions? (We finance personal-use cars only.)
  4. How fast can you fund a private-party deal?

If a lender can't answer those clearly, keep looking.

Mistakes I see most

Buying before the inspection. Ignoring insurance until after approval. Treating a 240-month amortization like a 20-year loan and forgetting about month 84. Every one of these is avoidable.
