Some of the best exotics never reach a dealer. They sell owner to owner through a forum post or a friend of a friend. Those deals can save you money, but they also have more places to go wrong. Here's how we finance them and keep them safe.
What private party financing is
You buy the car directly from its owner, and we pay the seller (or the seller's lender) once everything checks out. Most banks won't touch a private-party exotic. For us it's a normal deal.
How it works with Rizz
- Apply. A soft-pull application that won't affect your score.
- Approval. Typically within 24 hours.
- Vehicle check. VIN, mileage, title status and any existing lien.
- Inspection. Get an independent pre-purchase inspection from a shop that knows the marque. Don't skip it.
- Paperwork. Bill of sale and title documents.
- Funding. We pay off the seller's lender if there's a loan, pay the seller the rest, and record our lien. No one has to send a personal wire to a stranger.
Eligibility
- Credit: typically a 700+ FICO.
- Down payment: at least 20%, and up to 40% depending on the car, the borrower and the loan amount.
- Luxury SUVs such as the Cullinan, Urus, G-Class, Bentayga and Range Rover typically need at least 30% down because they depreciate faster.
- Amount financed: $80,000 minimum, up to $1M+.
- Use: personal use only. No rentals, Turo, ride-share or livery.
Full criteria are on the eligibility page.
How the loan is structured
Rizz Lending loans spread monthly payments over 120, 180 or 240 months. They are not 20-year loans: each loan matures at 84 months, and at that point the remaining balance (a balloon payment) is due. The borrower can pay it off, apply to refinance it or sell the car. There is no prepayment penalty.
Protecting yourself
- Meet the car in person, or send someone you trust.
- Match the VIN on the car, the title and the registration.
- Watch for pressure to wire money fast. That's the most common scam in private sales. Let the lender handle the funds.
- Get insurance lined up before funding. We'll need coverage in place.
A hypothetical example
A buyer (made up for illustration) finds a McLaren 720S listed by its second owner, who still has a loan on it. We approve the buyer, the car passes inspection, and at closing we pay the seller's lender first and send the seller the rest. The title comes to the buyer with our lien on it, and neither party had to trust the other with a wire.
